Haute launches its research programme with its first academic publication

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how information is analysed, decisions are made, and increasingly, how economic activity is conducted. As autonomous AI agents begin to acquire their own identities, wallets and reputations on public infrastructure, objective measurement is becoming as important as technological progress itself.

At Haute, we believe that meaningful innovation should be built on rigorous evidence. Our research programme was established to support independent academic work that advances our understanding of emerging technologies and, where appropriate, provides the scientific foundation for future products and investment solutions.

The first research paper has now been published in Scientific Data (Nature Portfolio).

Conducted by Dr. Yulin Liu of the Quantum Economics AI Lab, the study delivers the first structured public record of blockchain-registered AI agents under the emerging ERC-8004 identity standard. It documents the first 10'000 agents registered on Ethereum mainnet, their on-chain identities, minting economics, ownership transfers, declared services and peer-submitted reputation, linked under a single common key.

Among its findings:

• The entire cohort of 10'000 agents was registered on a single day, within a 7.7-hour window and through only 3'028 transactions, a pattern of large-scale batch deployment rather than organic, distributed adoption.

• Machine-readable capability data remains scarce. Only 2'144 agents carry an on-chain metadata pointer at all, and just 72 of those (3.4%) resolve to a valid document describing services and endpoints, leaving most agents functionally opaque to counterparties.

• Both ownership and trust are highly concentrated. The 10'000 agents map to only 394 owner wallets (top ten holding 51.4%), and a single automated client submitted 65.8% of all reputation feedback — early trust signals reflect monitoring bots more than genuine peer assessment.

These findings provide an objective baseline for understanding where the agentic economy stands today, while highlighting how much identity, capability and trust infrastructure remains to be built before autonomous agents become reliable economic participants.

This publication marks the beginning of Haute's research programme. By supporting independent academic research, we aim to transform emerging technologies into measurable knowledge and, ultimately, into products and solutions grounded in empirical evidence.
